Frequently Asked Questions

What is the aim of the award scheme?

The aim of the award scheme is to promote health and wellbeing in Hart through the formal recognition of organisations that are proactively working to improve the health of their staff… And to support those aspiring to do so.

The scheme will also raise awareness of the value of health and health promotion in the workplace.

Our experience has shown us that some businesses are investing significantly in the health and well being of their employees as they have recognised that a healthy, energised and motivated team will lead to better business performance. We want to celebrate this commitment and encourage others to do the same irrespective of the size of the company.

What type of Awards can I apply for?

There will be three categories of awards that businesses in Hart can apply:

Bronze award Awarded to organisations that can demonstrate commitment to the improvement of the health of employees as well as meeting legal/statutory health and safety requirements.

Silver award This award will be given to organisations that meet the requirements of the bronze award and can demonstrate the existence of specific interventions on the following:

  • Tobacco control
  • Promotion of physical activity
  • Promotion of good nutrition

Gold award The highest award level will be reserved for organisations that meet the requirements of the Silver award and can demonstrate the existence of a comprehensive package of measures to manage stress in the workplace. It will also include the promotion of a sense of well-being amongst employees.

How does the scheme work?

All businesses and organisations located in Hart are open to apply for this award – no matter how big or small they are.

Information packs are available on request from any of the partner agencies. The packs can also be downloaded directly from our website: Download Application Pack.

To receive the award, a panel of health experts will review each company’s submission together with comments from employees who will be encouraged to provide direct feedback on the effectiveness of health initiatives. This makes the Hart Healthy Workplace Award scheme the perfect tool for businesses wishing to engage their staff on health awareness issues.

  • Step One: Each organisation reviews the information pack and decides the level of award they intend to apply for.
  • Step Two: The relevant sections of the self-assessment questionnaire are submitted along with any supporting evidence. The form can be downloaded on the Download Application Pack page
  • Step Three: Organisations applying for awards are expected to make their submissions widely available to employees and to encourage them to complete and forward the staff feedback forms. The proportion of staff that send in comments will be taken into consideration in granting the award-the higher the better. Employees will have a maximum of 6 weeks from the date of submission to send in their comments
  • Step Four: A panel of experts reviews the submission including employees comments. If necessary, the panel will request additional information and or visit the company on a fact finding mission.
  • Step Five: Businesses that qualify for awards are notified and invited to a prestigious award ceremony to receive their award certificate. A small number of awards for outstanding achievement may also be made.

Notes:

  • There is no limit on the number of awards issued for each category; however a high level of compliance is expected to meet the award requirements. An award is valid for two years.
  • There may also be an annual award of outstanding achievement in each category. Award winners will be permitted to display their awards certificate on their premises and acknowledge it on their stationery.
  • Award certificate will be presented at a prestigious annual award ceremony with significant local media interest.
